01

Start with customer impact

Classify issues by impact and urgency rather than technical complexity alone. A simple account question affecting many users may require faster coordination than a difficult but isolated configuration request.

02

Define the handoff

Every escalation should identify the next owner, the information required and the expected communication point. This prevents a ticket from moving teams without moving responsibility.

03

Keep the customer informed

Technical work and customer communication are separate responsibilities. Assign both so the customer receives useful updates while specialists investigate.
